The New Baby

In case you haven't heard yet we are having another baby. I had an ultrasound done yesterday which put the due date at February 27. We got a picture at the ultrasound(which I will post if I ever figure out how to scan it). We are pretty sure that this baby looks just like me; it has a really big head and little tiny arms and legs. Just like me, right? : )
Yes, I know that is reality the arms and legs will grow and it will probably come out looking exactly like Walter. That is what happens around here.

4th of July

A little rundown of the Fourth of July:

Woke up
Worked in yard
Took nap
Headed to Mom and Dad Ray's
Had BBQ and swimming
Realized we forgot the camera
Thought "Darn, I was supposed to post pictures of the 4th on the blog"
Quit caring about the camera and ate more potato salad
Boys built the TOWER OF FIRE (Brittany has a pic on her blog)
Had our own fireworks show
Kids nearly caught each other on fire with sparklers
Watched the BC fireworks
Thrilled that the kids loved the fireworks
Went home and to bed

That was pretty much it. I was worried that Little Walter would be frightened of the fireworks but he wasn't at all. That was quite a relief.

A Whole Lot of Nothing

I don't have anything specific to talk about, nor do I have any one event that has been particularly blog worthy. So, for this reason, I am going to put up a bunch of recent pictures and tell you what they are. How does that sound?
Here we go:

I got home from date night a a week or so ago and found a couple pictures like this on my camera. I always have to be afraid when someone from the Villanueva household finds my camera because pictures like this (the hold-the-camera-yourself-self-portrait) become inevitable.

I made strawberry-apricot jam and it is MARVELOUS. The first jar made it two whole weeks. I am pretty impressed. Yes, I know I am dressed in ill-fitting, jelly-covered clothes and that my hair looks bad. It is my jelly making outfit. Sorry.

Kate (who now walks in case you were interested) had her first birthday party. Walter was kind enough to eat a large part of the frosting off her cake. He is such a helper. A messy, messy helper.

Little Walter found his monkey pajama top in his drawer and made me put it on over his clothes. Apparently it is some sort of monkey/banana sport coat. Nice.

We are trying to transition Little Walter to a big boy bed. The first step of the transition was to lower the rails on his crib. This way he gets the freedom of getting out of bed but still has the familiarity of his crib. Well, as everyone might expect it hasn't been perfect. I found him stuck behind his door a few days ago and this morning he was up and in my room at 5:30am. Not good. We locked him in his room until 7am. Much better.

I just think this pic is funny and gross. We had spaghetti for dinner last night and about half way through his meal he got something in his eye so he had to rub it. hehe.

That is pretty much it for now. There are some things coming up that I hope to get pictures of. Note to self...Must remember camera.

Upcoming events: Family vacation, finishing the backyard, finishing the front bedroom, Little Walter's birthday, Girls Camp, and hopefully some family pictures. Hopefully I will be posting about some of these things soon because that means a) I remembered the camera and b) I actually got stuff done. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Poor, Poor Walter

More than once this past few weeks my poor husband has been forced to sit and read a book in the evening instead of enjoying my company. Why, you may ask, do I not visit with my husband in the evenings? Well, here is why...

It is really sad, but I just love it. I hope he gets on the bandwagon soon so he can join in my fun.

A New Do

Walter and I gave little Walter a hair cut the other day. I think he looks quite handsome so I thought I would share.
Before:

Oh, and that second picture is a darn cute pic of him sleeping.
After:

Well, what do you think? I know it is short, but it is not nearly HUGE and PUFFY. Oh, and it is adorably when I put gel in it.

Park Hoppers

Our ward (more specifically Laura Pollock, the new enrichment leader) recently organized a park day each week for the moms and their kids. I can not tell you how much I needed this park time. We go out on Thursday mornings and the kids get to play while the moms get to visit. I love the adult interaction, Little Walter loves the toys and playing with the other kids, and Kate enjoys eating stuff off the ground. Finding stuff on the ground to eat is one of her finest talents. If anyone wants to join us we meet on Thursdays.

Strange Habits

I don't know if anyone else will find this funny, but I do. My son has some strange habits that crack me up. One of these is that he REALLY like his toys/magnets in straight lines. I walked into the kitchen the other day to find the refridgerator magnets like this:

And, in case you wanted a close up:

I just love that little boy and all of his quirks.
